SambaKids Academy founded in 2025, based out of Rockville, Maryland, is dedicated to helping young athletes build strong fundamental soccer skills while deepening their understanding of the sport. We strive to develop confident, knowledgeable, and passionate players through positive coaching and fun, engaging training.

Through out the six sessions of our program we strive for our players to develop their skills in:
Independent ball control, dribbling and confidence
Passing mechanics, receiving ball control, directional awareness
Off-ball movement, combining dribbling skills to passing situations
Shooting mechanics, combining dribbling skills to finishing situations
Pass to shoot skills, shooting against pressure
Defensive effort, mechanics and strategies

While we are building our individual skills, we are also learning and understanding the proper tactics and awareness with:
Repetitions in small groups
Positional focus drills
In-game situational training

What makes this game so beautiful is to be able to share it with eachother. Our players are going to build the confidence not only in themselves but as well as each other. Growing in their own skill set and applying it to build each other in team building drills. These will be skills and confidence your child will be able to use in all aspects of their life.

Our training programs are designed to progressively develop essential skills, teamwork, and confidence. As young players grow, we expand the complexity and challenge of our drills to match their advancing abilities. By continuously making the training bigger—more engaging, more comprehensive, and more fun—we ensure each child builds a strong foundation for success both on and off the field.
Our curriculum includes:
Advanced ball control and dribbling techniques to enhance precision and agility.
Team strategy sessions that teach players how to communicate and collaborate effectively.
Confidence-building exercises that encourage positive self-expression and resilience.
Increased physical conditioning to improve endurance and strength suitable for each age group.

10:00 AM Saturdays
This training package consists of 6 training sessions designed for 5 & 6 year old children. Introducing the world of futsal in a fun environment, developing our individual skill sets and building confidence.
11:00 AM Saturdays
This training package consists of 6 training sessions designed for 7 year old children. Introducing the world of futsal and developing our individual skill, team building skills and athletic confidence.
12:00 PM Saturdays
This training package consists of 6 training sessions designed for 8 year old children. Introducing the world of futsal and honing our soccer skills while translated them to the tactics of futsal. Team building through fun and competitive play.

Our players are expected to wear indoor athletic footwear with shin guards being highly recommended.

SambaKids Academy is founded by Coach Edward Contreras.
Coach Edward brings passion, energy, and a true love for the game to every session! Growing up competing in top-tier leagues like NCSL and EDP, he learned the intensity, teamwork, and skill it takes to play at a high level. He’s also a standout futsal player, having competed in U.S. Futsal tournaments from State all the way to Nationals. As a young adult also competing in the Futsal Premier League.
When he’s not on the field, Coach Edward is a familiar face in the Montgomery County communities. With 12 years of experience as a director and aide with before- and after-school childcare programs, he knows how to connect with kids, spark their confidence, and make learning fun.
Bringing together his competitive soccer background and his deep experience with youth development, Coach Edward creates a training environment that’s upbeat, encouraging, and full of excitement. He’s all about helping players build their skills, express their creativity, and fall in love with the beautiful game.
